Beginnings

Well, here it is: the first installment of a series that I intend to extend daily. With the pool season drawing to a close, I need to supplement this site with something worth viewing. And with the cool summer, there wasn't much pool activity occurring in any case.

So I figured I could use my web site as a forum for getting some things off my chest, in what I hope will be an amusing manner. I'm all hopped up on caffeine and sugar, so let's get right down to it.

I've been playing a lot of Diablo II lately, and frankly, I'm frustrated with the increase in difficulty between Normal and Nightmare settings. Maybe I should be running my characters through Normal level twice. Both my paladin and my barbarian got up to 28th level before defeating Diablo at the Normal difficulty setting, but they die so often at the Nightmare level that I can't make any further progress. So I've switched my energies into Majesty (the Kingdom Simulator) for now.

What I should do is start playing Angband again. Now there is a game worth playing - hundreds of different types of monsters in a dungeon that is miles deep, with different levels every 50 feet. It is just too heartbreaking to lose a character after months of playing, since death is permanent in Angband. And for me, the fun seeps out if I cheat and copy the save file before it gets overwritten with the dead character.

Well, that's enough of that for today. You can respond to my ranting here.
