The typical person sleeps one third of their life away. I look at this as an opportunity for improvement. One third of the time sleeping implies two thirds not sleeping. This seems an unpardonable waste to me.
I think cats have gotten it right - they spend up to five-sixths of their lives sleeping. Think about it. Everybody wants more sleep. When you are asleep, you aren't worrying, or eating, or working up a sweat. You are in a perfect state of Zen, much like a rock. How do we describe a good night's sleep? "I slept like a log", or "I slept like a rock". Just how much more in tune with nature can one be?
And don't forget the in-flight movies while you sleep. Some are love stories, some are horror flicks, some are film noire, but hey, entertainment is entertainment, and the price is certainly right. The fact that you generally can't remember them after waking (which should be as seldom as possible) means fewer reruns.
Now you'll excuse me if I cut this short, but I have a flock of jumping sheep to count. Look out, Zen, here I come!
Z-z-z-z-z-z-z-zen, Z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-zen.
You can respond to my ranting here.
Aye, there's the rant.
