There's nothing like a rainy Monday to make me consider the finer points of life.
I had lunch at McDonald's today. True to form, the amount I was charged did not agree with what I was expecting. Not feeling argumentative, I decided to let it pass. However, when I got my meal, I saw that I had gotten a double cheeseburger instead of the hamburger I had ordered. Now what I had thought was overcharging seemed to be undercharging, and I really had no incentive to complain anymore.
After downing my meal, on the way out I checked the menu. To my chagrin, a double cheeseburger costs exactly the same as a regular cheeseburger, so instead of making a profit, I had been charged exactly the right price, albeit for a different meal than I had actually ordered.
What's the point to all of this? Well, as Homer Simpson said when Marge asked him about the moral of the story, "It's just a bunch of stuff that happened." Today was an excellent day to be inside out of the rain eating a double cheeseburger that I hadn't wanted, but enjoyed nonetheless.
